Dissolve those Zits!

Skin care tip of the day: Keep your lids and caps of your skin care products CLOSED. Light and air cause the formulas to break down faster, leaving you with a product that may expire sooner and that may be less effective.

"I don't have acne, but I have a few zits from time to time"
What REALLY works?!
My recommendation is a 2% salicylic acid gel left on overnight. You can purchase this at Wal-Mart for around $7. The 2% level, not lower, not higher, is most effective.
Salicylic acid is very similar to Aspirin (which is why rubbing crushed Aspirin on your face works basically the same as far as clearing up a face with break outs). Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid and is produced from willow bark. It is the only BHA that can exfoliate inside the pore. This is why it is so effective at getting those pores unclogged. Keep in mind though, that salicylic acid is not THE one thing that can help clear up those pimples. The skin is VERY complex and requires the right kind and amount of care.

A little about this blog...
Most of my posts are going to include a skin care tip of the day, a main topic with a few more details (like the salicylic acid/break outs from today's), and a voting or open question section. I might enter some new random sections time to time so please comment on what you like best or comment to make some suggestions. These random new sections could include skin care myths, scientific and/or educational points, or cultural stories/interests/traditions to do with the skin.

Open Question!
What is the most confusing skin care topic to you?

Additional questions...
Because this is the first blog post, I'd like to know absolutely anything you would like to know about skin and makeup! I will be able to update one-two times a weekend.
